Among the twelve months of the year, December was the most strenuous yet wonderful month. Different celebrations were being held including the festivities for Christmas. Among them is the celebration of the Feast of La Inmaculada Concepcion, the patron of Culion every 8^th of December. However, year 2009 was different since one important event in the history happened and that is the soft launching of Hotel Maya.

After the mass for the feast day, the blessing of the hotel went through. It was witnessed by the town people as well as some visitors from other places. We were so fortunate to have Bishop Edgardo Juanich to do the blessings and it was through the support of Fr. Florge Michael Z. Sy, SJ, and Fr. Xavier C. Alpasa, SJ, that the timely blessing was pursued. The cutting of ribbon was done by Ms. Maye Trinidad, Manager of Hotel Maya.

After lunch, the students of BS-Entrepreneurial Tourism of LCC presented a talk which elaborated the purpose of the establishment of Hotel Maya and the most important role that Culion people plays in the preservation of our environment. This activity helped a lot in educating the people about the Eco-Tourism benefits. Beautiful pictures taken in different locations in Culion were also shown which added to the admiration of the viewers of our place.

The launching of Hotel Maya was successful. Thanks to all the people behind this!
