LCC Juniors and Seniors Promenade: “MASQUERADE BALL”

Juniors and Seniors Promenade is an annual event of the school intended for the 3rd year and 4th year class. It always happens in the mid of February in accordance with the celebration of Valentine’s Day. Loyola College of Culion, a private school in town is quite different in celebrating its promenade. LCC breaks the tradition of the usual J.S. Prom, from which the girls from 3rd year wear pink dresses and the girls from 4th year wear blue while the gents are wearing long-sleeves with a tie or a tuxedo.

LCC change the usual and promoted a new tradition or celebrating the Prom. Way back in 2004, the school started this tradition which the promenaders will have a motif. During that said year, the school has its newest kind of Prom with its motif, “welcome the Hawaii”. The promenaders look like from Hawaii too as they wore their Hawaiian dresses. The Prom was a real success and so the school decided to have it continued until now. The school took away the discrimination and the feelings of being aloof from the students. The tradition goes on and on. It started from Hawaii, then China to Philippines, moving towards the world of fantasy, and bonds to the Caribbean as pirates, then moves down to the Nayon, and went to the high-school musical, then to the world of drama, “The Romeo and Juliet”, and this year’s motif, “The Masquerade Ball”.

Last February 10, 2012, LCC held their Juniors and Seniors Promenade in LCC quadrangle. It formally started at exactly 7:00 o’clock in the evening. It was opened by an invocation, national anthem, and presentation of the promenaders by Mr. Rogelito Jackson Jr. and Ms. DaisylynMacaraeg, the event’s masters of the ceremony. Nobody could explain the happiness that the promenaders felt based on their smiles, as they were introduced by the hosts.

The promenaders wouldn’t be a successful one without the speeches of the respective students: the turn-over of the responsibility by the Seniors to the Juniors, the reading of the class prophecy which regards the students to what they will be in the future.

The last will and testament for the skillful and talented students of the Juniors and the promenaders finale song and dance presentation. Then comes the most awaited part of the ceremony, the announcement of winners. The verdicts of the board of judges who were Mr. Rudy Calzado, Mr. Juan Nilo Fernandez, Ms. Judy Cataquis, Ms. Cybill Cortez and Bro. Ed, were announced!

Happiness and surprises could be seen in the faces of the title holders. Mr. JunelimarMergullas and Ms. DanicaJairaPiñones got the title “MR. and MS. JUNIORS”, Mr. John CibrianHuerte and Ms. Vanessa FerlQuilinguen for the title “MR. and MS. SENIORS”, and Mr. Francis Rey Custodio and Ms. Isabel Sapad for the title “MASCARADE BALL.
