2011 Christmas Reverse Caroling

As a tradition of LCC, the school held the 2011 Christmas Reverse Caroling. Every year, the school organizes an event whereas youth volunteers gather donation of clothes, canned goods, toys and money for indigenous communities.

And this year’s caroling was a success, as successful as the previous ones held. It was made possible through the combined efforts of more organizations that participated in the event. Several individuals also showed their generous hearts through their moral and financial support.

As expected, the number of indigenous people that arrived mounted up than the last years. It’s a good thing that the volunteers and donations also grew, enabling us to pack a good deal of rice, clothes and toys in plastics bags. We have also prepared snacks of pancit and juice for them, candies and goodies for the children.

But what made this year’s Reverse Caroling as well as the previous ones is the thought that there are really people who are willing to spare time in sharing what they have in a season when people are usually busy cooking meals and wrapping presents for their loved ones. People give, not because they have excess, but because they feel joy and contentment when they see the smiles of the less fortunate they are helping.

This event never loses its humbling effect on people who witness. Year by year, it continues to help people. Not just the indigenous communities but also to the volunteers, it helps to grow and spread the true meaning of Christmas. All in all, at the end of the day, we may all be tired and exhausted but happy because we live in the fact that we made some one else happy through our little acts of giving. We are very looking forward to next years caroling but we want to see more golden-hearted people and more people to help. It may mean more work but as the saying goes, ‘the more the merrier Christmas will be’.
