Loyola College of Culion (LCC) once more commemorated the feast day of St. Ignatius last July 30-31, 2010.
The celebration started with a “Gimmick Parade” which started from ATM Covered Court, around the Poblacion and finally back to the school. Students, parents, LCC administrators, faculty and staff, Hotel Maya, LCC Diner, and ICCC joined the parade. Rev. Fr. Xavier C. Alpasa S.J., LCC President formally opened the celebration for the feast day of Saint Ignatius.
The Arnis Club performed Arnis stunts to entertain the audience. After the presentation, parlor games began for the students. KBSC and CSC headed the events. Apart from parlor games, there were marriage booths, videoke, and mini-stores present.
In the afternoon, students attended the Alternative Class Program (ACP) for their enrichment. Rev. Fr. Marlito Ocon S.J., LCC Assistant President and Treasurer facilitated the Ignatian Sprituality Seminar. Ms. Patricia Aliño, a graduate of AB Mass Communication and the Sales and Marketing Officer of Hotel Maya conducted the English Fluency Seminar. Ms. Miriam delos Santos, alumna of Ateneo de Manila University and with Master’s Degree in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University (New York), former ADMU’s OSA Director for several years and member of the Ateneo School of Government facilitated the Leadership Seminar.
At night, was the Dance-Concert of Tribong Loyola Dance Troupe featuring “Sariling Atin”.
On the second day, the whole LCC community attended the high mass with the dramatization of the life of Saint Ignatius. That was a dual celebration! Rev. Fr. Xavier C. Alpasa S.J. was celebrating his birthday also. Thus the LCC community prepared a program for his birthday. By noon, everybody ate lunch together at the LCC Auditorium.
The Environmental Club spearheaded the coastal clean-up by afternoon. Each year level went to their designated cleaning area.
The two-day celebration was indeed tiring but the spirits of satisfaction and fulfillment remained in the heart of every Loyolan.
