June 15, 2010. Rev. Fr. Xavier C. Alpasa S.J. announced during the morning assembly the theme: LCC- the Better School. In connection to this is a call to pursue this over-all thrust of LCC for the whole school year. The theme of LCC- the Better School is the result of the visioning process made through the collaboration of administrators, faculty and staff and in response to Fr. General’s Challenges to Jesuit Higher Education Today.
According to the message of Rev. Fr. Adolfo Nicolas S.J., Superior General of the Society of Jesus, the quest for depth, universality and learned ministry should be pursued to respond to the globalization of superficiality, to maximize the potentials of new possibilities of communication and cooperation, and to counter the inequality of knowledge distribution. It is an invitation to do the “magis” for making a better school. The theme encourages to do more, to fine-tune the existing initiatives, and to ask ourselves that we do better or more of what we are already trying to do.
Many updates can be cited. Fr. Javy proudly announced that two recent high school graduates perfected the college entrance test of other schools. Miguela Karina Eberhard perfected the College Entrance Test in Lyceum-Batangas. Camille Alcantara got a perfect score in College Entrance Test in Math at Palawan State University (PSU). New members of the faculty are of outstanding caliber also. Rainier Magno and Ronald M. Suplido Jr. both graduated magna cum laude from Ateneo de Naga and LCC respectively. Ms. Elizabeth Nuñez is a consistent dean’s lister of Ateneo de Naga. The school has also its volunteers: Mr. Joseph Gideon Sarreal, Ms. Patricia Aliño and Ms. Miriam delos Santos who are from Ateneo de Manila University. Mr. Nelson Aca also served as volunteer for almost three months in his campaign on environmental conservation.
Further, the school is now upgrading its facilities to accommodate the increasing demand of technology-aided instructions. LCC will soon put up its Audio-Visual Room 2. Thus, the challenge to make LCC- the Better School is ON.
